Today was a windfall! All my prizes arrived from my winning day a couple of weeks ago. First, the clothes from DownEast Basics arrived. I had just gotten out of the shower, so of course I tried them on immediately! The skirt and the purse fit fine! (The trim on that purse is zippers. It’s quite funky!)
It looks like I’ll need another size larger on the 2 tops. (Those ripples just don’t go away!) I am glad I changed tops though. This one is very cute and is not so scooped out like my original choice was. It has a v-neck but it will work out ok. It is long-sleeved so will be nice for the fall and winter. It is fuchsia. Not a color that fills the pallet of my wardrobe, but one that I’ll enjoy with my blacks and grays for variety. So I wrote in to tell of my problem with fit. There is still plenty of time to resolve it.
Shortly after that package arrived, the mail came and in it was the book that I won from Tara Barthel. (It was my choice.) The book is Running Scared: Fear, Worry, and the God of Rest by Ed Welch (this link has interesting video clips by the author). I look forward to reading it. I have found that much of my life has been ruled by fear/worry. The rest of my life has been spent trying NOT to live that way. I saw how damaging it was to people, their families and their personal growth! But deep down inside resides that little girl who is naturally VERY fearful. It is a constant battle. I look forward to reading his insights.
So this is the rest of the story on the winning of contests. Well, until the actual fashion show…when I fall on my face! Oh no, that is only the fear I have. I don’t live that way anymore.
