It’s now December. Wow! This Fall has flown! Now the year is almost over. Yesterday was a busy day. Lots of loose ends got tied up and the ones that didn’t I hope to tie up today before I head off to work for a 3 day stretch.
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS UP
I rearranged the living room so the tree fits better and it is mostly decorated. The trees in the family room are also decorated…or mostly so. (And no, we don’t have live ones. It is a family tradition *smile* borne of having some allergic children–to Christmas trees! What can I say?
I’m still clearing away debris from last week (and that is not a complaint…I enjoyed having so much of the family here! It is more a testament to my turtle-slowness.) By the time the next couple of days are done, the house should be all ready for Christmas. (Repeat that 5 times quickly and you will actually believe it!)
MAJOR SHOPPING DONE
This year I got smart (for a change) and finished my major Christmas shopping on the web and let them deal with the mailing. It wasn’t bad at all! We have a local wedding coming up and I took care of that gift too. I felt so efficient I could hardly stand it. I might even get to do some baking this year. That would be fun. I have containers for some baked goods and everything. I don’t know if I’ll recognize myself.
I’LL BE DRIVING AGAIN SOON
Today I had an appointment with my neurologist and things seem to be going well in that department for which I am very grateful. In two weeks, I will be legal to drive again. I just realized today how close I was to the date I can drive. After almost a year, I am so ready. I’ll be glad for Ron to be able go to bed on my work nights rather than have to interrupt his sleep to pick me up. He needs his rest these days.
I also had a bit of a serendipity today. I won a prize. I’ve entered quite a few drawings at different sites…but not as many as I could have! (That would be a full-time job and I haven’t had that kind of time.) What did I win? A book. The title is Organized Simplicity. It is a topic I need help with…a lot.
I prayed that if God thought it would be helpful to me, I would win it. Since I did…from a site with hundreds of daily viewers, I’m hopeful. Of course, I do need to follow-through on the advice and actually CHANGE! Therein lies the hitch. Any help I find I’ll pass on to you all.
The link above is to the blog The Inspired Room. It is a beautiful blog with lots of helpful, yet simple ideas for making your home look more beautiful. Be sure to check it out! Here is a link to Simple Mom. It is the blog written by the author of the book I won. Her name is Tsh Oxenreider, yes, that is the right spelling! It is written for “home managers”. It covers just about every category of home management you could imagine…but isn’t a thick book! Not too overwhelming. Yeah!
We’ll have a series this month called CHRISTMAS MEMORIES. I’ll be sharing some of my decorations that remind me of friends and earlier Christmases. I’m hoping to be able to figure out how to add a link so you can add your memories. So plan to join me and share yours with us as well.
I hope this Christmas season will be a blessed one for you and your family–one where you are able to take time to remember why we celebrate the Advent of Christ to earth. His redemption for us was, and continues to be an amazing act of His gritty grace!
